Spend the first week writing something and getting it distributed. ItGood advice. I've made a habit of doing exactly this for several years. Given the importance of first impressions, it's one of the quickest ways to fit into a new situation. If people think that you're efficient and quick to learn, you'll probably have less trouble getting co-operation later on, too.
