No solution, unfortunately... This is a basic display limitation of Acrobat.
A very limited workaround is to set the PDF so that it opens at a
magnification that is a multiple of 50%.
No difference with Acrobat/Reader 5, except that the new vector antialising
(Edit > Preferences, Display, Smooth line Art, turned off by default) may
aggravate the problem in some cases.
The problem equally applies to horizontal and vertical lines.

I just tried to "fix" the tables but some of the gridlines still won't
change "after" conversion. Any suggestions?
