Gil, if you're getting 30k of HTML bloat, it's because you're using Save As
Web Page, not _exporting to_ HTML.

The former is horribly bloated because Word includes lots of Word-specific
garbage to make round-tripping possible. This means that you can reopen the
resulting HTML file in Word and go back to the Page Layout view without
losing anything (field codes, etc.).

If you don't need to round-trip, and you have Office 2000, use the free
Office 2000 HTML Filter 2.0. It also works with Excel files. (Darren's
response suggests that this filter is built into Office XP; that's great).
For more information, see
http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/2000/htmlfilter.aspx. It's not going
to give you "pristine" HTML, but it will be far better than the Save As
bloat.

HTH!
Richard
