Boy oh boy oh boy, has this been a problem for me.
I once lost a job because the interviewer told my recruiter that I would 'scare'
the clients. This upset me, until I remembered that his first comments to me
were "Crikey, you're tall" - I'd obviously scared him.
I find it's catch 22 - you wear heels, you tower over the men, you don't wear
heels, someone makes some comment about femininity. It shouldn't happen - it
does. I wear kitten heels because they aren't too tall, but they are girly.
I have a massive problem with suits - try convinving someone that you are a real
grownup when you are showing 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5) inches of wrist out of your
jacket sleeves.
Like others have said, you do what you need to to get the job
Miriam
P.S. My strategy must work - I'm the only writer to survive today's cull.
Phew!
