Hi all:

You might want to check out Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility
(CPSR). They are big advocates for keeping companies from electronically
scavenging your private info (like when the grocery store scans your VIP
card and gives you a discount...then sells your soda and soap preferences to
a dozen other companies).

CPSR deals with privacy issues, cyber-rights, and computer security. Some
of their working groups get pretty political (civil liberties stuff).

Although places cannot, to the best of my knowledge, do medical record
searches without your direct consent, they can do Internet searches. And
you would be amazed what is lingering out there in somebody's database.
