Psychologists and Online fonts

If anyone is still following this, why are psychologists studying fonts? I
thought typographers did that. Maybe they should be trying to figure out why
people like one or the other instead of which one is more readable.
Personally, I think readability is greatly affected by what you are used to
looking at.
