Dan Emory recommends left-right margins of 0.25" and top/bottom margins
of 0.131", permitting a higher zoom setting in the document window while
still being able to view the entire width of the document. Body text is
set to 12 vs 10 pts. Printing is set to 83% of full size, which reduces
the 12-pt body to 10 pts, increases left/right margins to 0.93", and
increases the top/bottom margins to 1.04".

This permits two versions of a document to coexist simultaneously in the
same file without the necessity of changing page layouts, font sizes, or
graphic and table sizes. The on-screen/on-line version is 20% larger at
a 100% zoom setting than if everything appeared in its final size.

Dan's excellent "FrameMaker Template Design and Enforcement" is
available at

http://docsys.web.cern.ch/docsys/distribution/docs/TMPDESIN.PDF

A plug-in for FrameMaker is available that handles the roman/arabic
numeral issue as well as Chapter-page formats when creating pdfs --
Acrobat Reader 4 or 5 page numbers will match your original.
