I agree with Lydia that Susie should NOT have to "dumb down" because the
engineers don't like it when she points out missing/redundant methods.
She can, however, phrase things or point things out in a way that doesn't
upset the engineers so much. This can be done by asking them to confirm that
the methods are redundant (e.g., ask the programmer to explain the
difference between two methods, because she doesn't see the difference) or
by starting by praising them for other things (e.g., talking about how
great/useful/etc one method is and then asking if it's redundant with
another).
I find the free e-mail newsletter "winning without intimidation" good for
giving suggestions for how to deal with people when you "know" that you're
right and they are wrong. I think that a recent issue and sign up

this newsletter is sales-oriented, but not all of it is.
