I've been experiencing some problems from AOL users/recruiters receiving
Word documents with the .doc extension. They seem to get a "WORDMAIL.DAT"
error or something to that extent. I've had to save resumes and cover
letters to .rtf format to avoid sending the AOL mail servers into cardiac
arrest.

I'd like to note that the file name of these word/PDF/txt resumes that
are being sent everywhere is important--include your last name or some
other identifying letters in the file name. A colleague recently
complained of receiving over 100 resumes attached to e-mails, with the
majority named resume.doc or something just as poorly descriptive.
