RE: Other handshakes?

Regarding a "non-standard", or non-"best-practices" 
use of MS Word styles and formatting in a resumé 
submitted as a Word doc...
ONE reason that I can think of -- and it will now 
apply to me next time I'm in the job market is this:

The resumé is written in a word processor and/or 
on another operating system that doesn't use styles 
the way Word does. When some /p/a/r/t/i/s/a/n/ /t/w/i/t/ 
resumé scrutinizer demands it "in Word format", it 
just gets "Saved as..." or "Export[ed]" from that 
other system, and may LOOK fine for reading or 
printing in Word, but may not have the secret-sauce 
structure mandated by Uncle Bill(*).

Anyway, my resumés or cover letters will now need 
a disclaimer to that effect, I guess.
"The use (or lack) of MS Word Styles and other 
formatting conventions in this document may appear 
to be "non-standard". This is because the document 
was created on a Linux system, using [current favorite 
application], and then exported to Word format, which 
preserved the "look and feel" of the document, but not 
the original styles, tags or frames."

    permission to use your Windows XP that you already 
    bought and paid for... and then again, when you 
    modify/update your PC hardware... and then again, 
    when you move the flower vase from the left side of 
    your computer monitor to the right side... and then 
    again, when you get your driver's licence renewed...
    WHOOPS! ranting again, wasn't I.
