After repeated attempts to produce a resume' I liked in Word, I gave up and
used MS Publisher <gasp!>. Of course, I have not needed to distribute
electronic copies of my resume', so it hasn't mattered so far that it's not
in Word using styles.

I use Word at work on very rare occasions--maybe once every few months. Our
documentation is of such a size that it's impossible for us to use Word to
author our manuals. We used to use Interleaf with a master catalog that did
a good job of defining the components we used, but now we're doing
everything in XML. I am more aware than ever of the need to properly
structure a document; I just don't have to fuss with layout and formatting
now. I'm more concerned about content.

Eventually I will probably have to put my resume' into Word and distribute
it electronically, but when I do, whether I use styles or not, I hope that
the folks reviewing my resume' are not so focused on how I formatted it that
they miss the content.
