There once was a Tech writing list,
Whose writers could not get the gist,
Of the rules for to post,
Which annoyed the list host,
And left him shaking his fist.
Unfortunately for the moderator,
The egos just couldn't be greater,
And the writers so tense,
Took inordinate offense,
(But it all made for terrific theatre)
The economy just made it worse,
(Since the dot-com bubble had burst)
And folks were uneasy,
And a little bit queasy,
(Writers often are laid off the first.)
Some resigned from the list in disgust,
Others haughtily claimed "T'wasn't us!
We never would scribe,
A jab or a gibe,
That accusation's unjust!"
Still others offered advice:
?Don't be ever be cranky, be nice!?
Which sounds good to me,
(That's just me, you see-
I use my 'deletion device')
Some good ideas did make it through,
Like: "They're not all aimed right at you."
And: "Before posting again,
You might count to ten."
Or: "Politeness is long overdue."
But the answer, my friends, it is clear,
Is to post all the posts you post here,
In the limerick style,
(They?re never hostile),
And go down quite well (with a beer)
:-)
