TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I have had tendonitis in my wrist several times, rather than carpal
tunnel, but I think some of what I have learned may help you. My employer
bought an ergonomic keyboard that I place on my lap and a mouse that has a
larger palm support (I may buy my own keyboard and mouse if I have further
problems). When I feel my wrist muscles under strain I wear a knitted cuff
on my wrist to keep the muscles warm (warm muscles are less prone to
strain). I also practice tai chi, do stretches in the morning, and wrist,
shoulder and back stretches during the day.
I hope this helps.
