RE: Password protected archived WP documents
Jan,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can't get there from here.
Even if you had WP, it wouldn't help, as you don't have the password. (If
you do have the password, find a copy of WP or get a demo).
There are commercial password breakers for WordPerfect. If she has that and a copy of WP, she should be set.
The encryption in both Word and WordPerfect is not particularly strong.

My assignment is to restore, and redesign for online Help, application
system
documents that were archived in 1991. They were written in WordPerfect and
password protected, (why, I don't know). I am using Word, which can usually
convert WP documents, but I'm getting the error message "Cannot convert
password protected documents." I don't have WordPerfect. Any ideas how I can
get these files into Word?
