I had an interesting thing happen to me... shortly before I left one of my
jobs, I exercised my option to buy 2,500 shares at $.005 per. About a month
later, the company sent me a check with a letter telling me that the company
had exercised *their* option to buy my shares back from me at "market" value
(the company was not publicly traded). The company had just spun off a
division that looked to be highly successful, with another deal or two in
the works; the future looked bright. I ended up getting about $1200 dollars
for the shares, which, when I look at the company now, is a lot more than
what they were worth. At the time, though, I was pretty pissed. Management
*always* covers their butts, sometimes in surprising ways.
