The Acrobat gurus I know (including some from Adobe's
staff) say NEVER to use "PDFMaker" or "Save as PDF"
functions. They claim these are erratic and can
introduce errors.
Instead, they say to print to a PostScript file and
then use Acrobat Distiller. This can easily be
accomplished as a one-step process by establishing
what in Acrobat parliance is a "Watched Folder." This
simply means that any PostScript file put into a
specified folder is then distilled into a .pdf of the
same base name.
Also, by the way, the single most common Acrobat error
seems to be to only install a printer instance for a
particular physical printer rather than following
Adobe's instructions to use a separate Acrobat
Distiller printer instance (ppd file). Doing this can
easily clear up a huge number of Acrobat-related
issues.
I hope this helps!
David
