I agree with the usage you have proposed, Barbara, because you *have* to use
the singular when you refer to a single minutia. I would suggest to you that
if you can use "dinner" in "dinner party", you can safely use "minutia" in
"minutia point". There seems to me to be no question of noun vs. adjective
in the case of "dinner party". Likewise, there is no question of it in
"minutia point".
