How many people here would want to sit through a presentation on semiconductor fab manufacturing environment systems?
I can't say that the topic would be my first choice, but I might very well invest an hour in it to satisfy my curiosity. There are very few things that I don't find interesting in small doses, especially if learning about them includes the chance to hear an expert holding forth on his or her favorite subject. Enthusiasm is always interesting.

Most of the writers at the same company I work for couldn't care less about that one, but that's one of the chief technologies I work with all the time.

I recognize that this attitude is very common, but I find it a little sad. It reminds me of all the companies I've seen in which people spend their lives testing programs or running programs for clients, yet are unable to say exactly what the programs do. All through the high-tech world, people are spending their working lives on things that they don't understand or care about - yet, with just a little effort on their part, they could make their jobs more interesting and more bearable. I suppose curiosity is rare, and a fear of admitting ignorance all too common.

But when my eyes were open she had vanished once again
I chased her down the highway like lights across the sky
I was looking for perfection of a very basic kind."
