I once had a collection of HTML files which were generated by different
tools. Some were from FrameMaker files, and the others were from Doxygen
and Java doc. I made a common CSS file so all of them would have a similar
appearance, but I was looking for a quick way to insert the reference to the
CSS in each file automatically.
I tried a few different things including UNIX commands and batch files. I
knew I was on the right track but I didn't have enough scripting knowledge
to make it work. Later that day I described my problem to a release
engineer who offered to write a Perl script for me.
It worked perfectly. Perl is something I would like to learn more about
myself.
