Dear Stephanie,
Exactly, I agree, that is the point! There is no reason any applicant
should or would tolerate unprofessional actions by a company, at any time,
any more than a company would or should tolerate unprofessional actions by
an employee. In either case, if you are treated with blatant disrespect,
degrading sexist comments... walk out, politely, and steadfastly. However,
be sure to report your experiences to the company's Board of Directors, any
police agencies, civil rights agencies, as well as unions, etc. Any
experience like Sharon's deserves to be investigated, period. It is likely
she is not the only one. I disagree completely with Barry's statement. By
sitting there, one is basically approving of the disrespectful treatment.
