This might bring a smile to any of you feeling down because you're "just a
tech writer." I just got back from a doctor's appointment. HMO. New doctor
that I might as well have picked blindfolded. I went in there with a big
'ole "'tude" about the whole HMO process. Turns out the doctor was SUPER
cool and very chatty. After I told him I was a technical writer, he was
clearly intrigued and kept asking me questions -- the first of which was,
"Are you the ones that write those manuals, 'put slot A into slot B?'" But
then I proceeded to tell him I've edited manuals for physicians among other
things. Well, he couldn't stop asking me questions about it and was
thoroughly impressed/fascinated.
I actually felt cool being "just a tech writer" today. :-)
