TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The premier list for computer book authors is the Computer Book Publishing (cbp) list hosted at the StudioB literary agency (www.studiob.com). It's a wonderfully helpful group of folks, and you don't have to be associated with the agency (or any agency) to participate. Sign up at the website.
As to your main question: if you are being approached as a co-author, I'd think the other person probably has a publisher already. Obviously, I'd confirm that with him/her. Nonetheless, these topics are all pretty hot these days. With the combination of hot topic and Name Author, you should be able to get a good contract. But absolutely, don't start writing until you have that offer!
Good luck!
