Wow, I seem to have touched a nerve here! It seems
that everyone's got a good (bad) interview story. The
one about the firing squad-style interview for the
franchise place was extraordinary.

I've been fortunate, having never encountered Mr.
Flippy Tie, Mr. "Look At My Ring," or Mr. "What Does
this Thomas Mann Quote Mean to You." And I do
count myself fortunate.

Thanks to all the people offered good thoughts on what
might be happening here. You're probably all correct to
some degree.

I'd also agree with the person who pointed out that, failing
dire circumstances, there're lots worse things than being
unemployed.

Thanks to everyone who ventured an opinion or related a
horror story. It's heartening to know that other people have
dealt with bizarre stuff in interviews. Who knows what lurks
in the hearts of interviewers?
