Re: How to fend off a tech writer
One of our developers told me about a place he worked where the developers had cards, red on one side, green on the other, that they posted on the outside of their cubes.
I did a little writing/designing with the concept (the green side has white type dropped out of it saying "Feel free to knock"; the red side says "Not right now, please). I printed them up and put them in a Take One pocket on the outside of my cube. Word got around, and developers stopped by to pick them up. So how many birds did I kill with that stone? ;-)
Common parlance for handwritten signs hung across cube doorways where I once worked: "Please go away."
Everyone understood and no one took it personally.
