"Due diligence" can probably be understood to be about the same as a
"reasonable person" standard. If your documentation turns out to be
misleading or wrong you should be able to explain the procedures and
processes that were used to verify the information. THEN compare those
procedures and processes with a published standard or if that's not
avialable with what your peers would have done.
I used to perform chain of title reports in the petroleum industry. I had a
clause that limited my liability to what the client actually paid for the
report. A software "license" use a Limit of Liability and/or Disclaimer of
Warranty clauses.
