The terminology may be misleading here. Headings 1 through 9 are "built-in"
styles, but all that means is that you cannot *delete* them from templates.
You can make them into whatever style you want. (It is for this reason that
we always used Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3 for our headings, instead
of creating styles with new names.)
What you can quickly do is COPY an existing style and give it the name of a
built-in style. That will solve your problem.
