Subject: Custom size PDF from Word
I posted this on another list and got a few responses; however, none of
them
helped. They all recommended setting Distiller's print settings to the
correct size, which we have done.
We have a Word template that is 5.5(w) by 8.5(h). The margins on the
first
page are .13 inches top/bottom and .25 inside/outside. The first page is
a
graphic inline with text. The other pages are .5 all around. When I
create a
PDF from Word's built-in PDFMaker, it tells me that the margins of all
sections are not in the printable range. If I ignore this, the bottom of
the
first page is cut off. I have set Distiller's print settings to 5.5 by
8.5
(postscript custom). The best I can do is to create a postscript file,
and
then use Distiller to create the PDF. The PDF is 5.5 by 8.5, but it
floats
in the middle of a letter-size page. We want a PDF and page that is 5.5
by
8.5, a letter-size page with a 5.5 by 8.5 PDF in the upper left-hand
corner
(that's how it prints in Word), or landscape page with two 5.5 by 8.5
PDFs
per page. (I hope that made sense.) Any ideas? I have tried everything I
know to try. We have created PDFs from 8.5 by 5.5 Word docs that are 8.5
by
5.5, but we can't remember how we did it. I guess I'll start documenting
procedures, even if they are simple at the time and I think I'll
remember
them:)
