Re: New TECHWR-L Poll Question
On average, how much time do you spend preparing for
a tech writing job interview?
It really depends on the job, but it is not unusual for me to spend a full day preparing beforehand. I make sure that my portfolio is up-to-date and demonstrating the particular skills I am trying to sell. If a particular tool is required, I spend some time reviewing the tool and thinking of questions that might be asked. (My favorite to ask when I am the interviewer: What is one unusual way that you use Word?) I spend time on the company's website as well, trying to learn all that I can about the company.
Now, if someone would just call.... :)
