Subject:Re: Which wordprocessor is the best? From:kcronin -at- daleen -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 20 Jun 2002 07:44:07 -0600
You will find MANY discussions of the merits of various word-processors in
the archives of this List, some of them quite emotionally charged.
Search under the specific product names, or for the term "tool wars" -
you'll get a LOT of hits.
With regard to your problems with Word, make sure that it's the product
and not the user that is the problem before you discard it as a viable
choice. It's a complex tool that takes a time to use effectively.
There are many options out there, including those you mentioned, some
open-source ones, and some that have a weaker market share. One thing you
might consider is which tools are used most in the environment(s) that you
expect to be in.
With any of them, to become truly proficient will take a while, and
requires that you develop a fairly deep understanding of how the product
works.
