Line weight has always been an issue with PDF. The trick is to view the
PDF in a zoom factor evenly-divisible by 50% (50%, 100%, 150%, etc.). If
it's still ugly, make sure you're using the right drivers with
PDFWriter. You may want to go to adobe.com/products, download the latest
PS driver for your OS, and install it using the Distiller PPD (located
in the Distillr\Xtras folder in your Program Files directory), and then
use that when creating your PDFs.

::: -----Original Message-----
::: I'm trying to convert a Word 97 doc to PDF using Acrobat 5.0.5.
::: At the moment, throwing the whole business into a large,
::: stagnant, scum-filled pool and watching it bubble down into the
::: muck seems like a satisfying solution. However, I have a
::: sneaking suspicion that I'd regret it later, so I'm writing you
::: folks instead.
:::
::: The Word document contains several hyperlinks which display as
::: blue, 14-point, true type Arial with underlining. When I distill
::: the doc and display the result to screen, the thickness of the
::: underlines is not consistent. Some are nice and thin as in the
::: original. Others are so thick that the top edge of the underline
::: impinges on the bottoms of the letters. It looks lousy.
:::
::: The print of the PDF looks fine.
:::
::: I've tried both print and ebook joboptions files with no effect.
::: Distiller is set to embed all fonts and to subset embedded fonts
::: when percent of characters is less than 100%.
:::
::: I'm plumb out of ideas. Suggestions?
