While in Germany on business 10 years ago, I was interviewing executives
for a trade magazine. I stopped in to see the editor of a competitive
magazine, just as a courtesy call. He told me that the next day, a general,
two-day, nationwide EDITOR'S strike would occur. Yep, the union of editors,
including, I suppose, tech writers, since tech writer in German is usually
technischer Redakteur, or technical editor (think "redaction").
So, precedence exists. Yet one wonders what corporate reaction would be,
especially outside of the magazine & book business. Perhaps something like,
"Well, hell, us programmers/CEOs/accountants/drivers know Microsoft
Word...or at least it's on our computers. We can do their work, right?"
Or something like that....
