To those who need to take screenshots that may take in some of the
(potentially) messy Desktop of their PC, may I suggest putting a blank
html page in a browser window and removing all extraneous toolbars etc.
to create an (almost) completely blank screen as a background.
E.g., open Internet Explorer, type about:blank in the address field and
press F11. Except for a slim toolbar across the top, you've got a
perfectly white display. Run your target application on top of it and
you won't have any distracting folders or icons in your screencaps. If
you want a colour other than white, just create an html page with the
line <body bgcolor="#yourcolourinHex"> after the <head/> tag and open
that instead of about:blank.
I've been using this with RoboDemo lately with good success. My
application opens windows of varying sizes/positions, so I need a
capture region larger than the main window, but I didn’t want to
rearrange my Desktop for the purpose.
