Interesting comments and food for thought. I would, however, counter that
"Stadium" in your example probably should be capitalized if it refers to
the specific baseball arena located in the Bronx. For example: "Yo, Mario,
goin' to da Stadium t'day?" would not imply that Mario and his friend would
be watching a National League game. In effect, there is a difference
between "a" stadium and "the" Stadium--the one and only House That Ruth
Built.
In this case, I still like to refer to the Web as being that World Wide Web
we encounter...as opposed to a wide-area network of servers whose topology
can be described metaphorically as a web of servers.
On the other hand, your comments about Web Services (with a capital S) are
causing me problems...problems because I see your argument, and it's made
me question my decision.

PS For non-baseball fans, the New York Yankees play in the American. Also
located in the greater NYC area, the New York Mets play in the National
League...which is REAL baseball... ;)
