How about, "It is hurting anything to have this section?" It seems to me that I've
waded through any number of threads on this list dealing with the importance of
content. I'm a bit of a content bug myself, thinking as I do that content is good.

a little too snippy for your tastes, I would either thank the developer and say
you'll consider the suggestion or I would say that I didn't think the Recommended
Readings hurt anything, and I would be leaving them in.

with an answer to the question of whether the Recommended Readings help or hinder
your audience in getting the information they need.
