Help Authoring Survey: Your opinions can win you books and cash
The Gantry Group is conducting an online survey exploring
your experiences with Help Authoring Software. We wish to
reach technical writing professionals and executives to
ascertain satisfaction with current market offerings,
pinpoint unmet needs, and predict future trends in the
sector.
We need your help! The survey takes no more than 15
minutes of your time. It may be completed from the office
or home.
If you qualify and finish the study, you'll be entered
into two drawings: 1) One out of every five participants
will win a $25 Amazon.com Gift Certificate; 2) At the
conclusion of the survey, a drawing for a $250 gift
certificate will be optionally awarded as an Amex Gift
Cheque or an Amazon.com Gift Certificate. Add to your
library or keep the cash!
Dan grumbled his way in to work, pouted past the break room, and crumpled
into his desk chair.
In an effort to cheer himself up on the dreary morning, he reflected that
he should be happy he was at work - and at any job, due to the current
technical writing market.
He set to work on his present manual and opened up his old friend SnagIt
to do the screen captures. Dan looked hard at the icon, taking in its
familiar visage.
Dreamily, he browsed through the menus as he had a million times before,
looking at the myriad input options, including a region, the entire
screen, an object or a menu. He marveled that he could decide whether or
not to capture the cursor. He respected the fact that Studio gave him the
option to mark up his captured images by using an arrow to point out a
feature, add a sticky note as a reminder and insert shapes with
explanatory text.
He moved close to the screen and began to praise the SnagIt icon, listing
aloud the reasons he appreciated the program. He finished by saying,
"Thanks for making my job easier. I don't know what I'd do without you!"
Sufficiently cheered, he made his way back to the coffee room for some
morning chit-chat - even though he knew he'd already had the best
conversation of the day.
