I have heard many people advise not to get a docking station, and this confuses
me greatly. A docked laptop is in the same configuration as an undocked one,
with the advantage that you don't need to keep plugging and unplugging cords
when you go somewhere. Docks usually cost less than $100, I don't know why so
many people would be averse to such cheap convenience. None of the laptop
mishaps I have encountered had anything to do with the dock---in some cases (a
Compaq many years ago) the dock actually fixed things I couldn't do without it,
by providing two extra expansion slots.
