Hello,
My tech writing department is new to the company. We are trying to establish
some style conventions. Two things have come up that my manager (the other
person in the department) and I completely disagree about. One, do you use:
File|Save
or
File>Save
And two, when you have a single step, do you place it in a list all by
itself to set it apart from the introductory information, or do you include
it with the introductory information in one sentence?
To send the information to a port:
a.. Click Send.
or
To send the information to a port, click send.
I should mention that most of the information in the documentation have lots
of steps, so it's not an issue there.
I was also wondering if these were regional preferences, as I learned
technical writing in NY, and she in California. I use the pipeline and
single sentence.
Thank you!
Colleen Carey
