Re: Changes and ethics and drafts - oh my!
Particularly in software, things change. Deadlines, bosses, coworkers, responsibilities, company mission statements - hell, the name of the
company itself - everything can change.
Your comments are so sensible that you're sure to be attacked from both sides. You know what they say about people who sit on the fence - theyget a lot more than hemorhoids.
However, reading the paragraph above,I started to think. In the past, the software industry has changed quickly. But is that true now? I think a case could be made that the industry has slowed down considerably - not just in economic terms, but also in terms ofinnovation.
Also, no matter what the rate of change, I can't help pointing out that the assumption of change has been the excuse for countless bad management decisions, including the one that started the original thread. This situation is often humorous - for example, I've lost count of the number of times that I've told the person interviewing me what they should ask me next, because the person has only been a few weeks on the job - but it causes unnecessary inefficiency and expense, too.
