Hi Rob,
Thanks for the reply. To tell you the truth, we found our answer (almost by accident). Somehow we were saving as a PDF with "tags" that are for "accessibility and reflow." We clicked the corresponding box in the PDF setup and cut the size by half. We are happy campers!

A few questions:
1. Are you "optimizing" the PDF? (do you know what I mean by optimizing?)
2. Are you compressing the output?
3. Are you embedding too many fonts? Sub-setting?
4. How are you creating the PDF?
Finally,
What are the sizes of the Word doc and the PDF?
