My favorite example for the need for technical writing is a bathroom sign that tickles me every time I see it. It reads something like:
"Due to very minimal pressure in this restroom facility, excessive use of paper materials necessitates frequent attention."
"Whatever you do, do NOT let your editorial decisions be made by the squiggly spell-checking lines in Word!" ~Keith Cronin, Techwr-l irritant ;-)
