This reminds me of a favorite book: Metamagical Themas by Douglas R.
Hofstadter. A former columnist for Scientific American, Hofstadter explores
the oddities of natural and artificial languages.
Sentences such as Cindy's are self-referential. Other favorites of mine
include "If you meet this sentence on the board, erase it",
"You only exist while reading me", and "This is a sentence with 'onions',
'lettuce', 'tomato', and 'a side of fries to go'".
Other interesting classes of sentences include self-replicating sentences,
and self-documenting sentences.
His book is lots of fun for anyone who likes to play with language,
