Try Schaum's Outlines at a college or other bookstore. Thre's probably one
on financial accounting. I've used these to get up to speed on a subject.

When I worked on an insurance project, there were various certification
materials with texts and references available through industry groups, so
that's another approach.

Also look for college textbooks on the subject.
