I'm not sure offhand what the US equivalent would be, but in Canada the entry level certification to enter the financial industry is the Canadian
Securities Course, which has course materials, (including an extensive glossary) that are quite good. Something like that could be a good reference.
Any college finance or economics textbook could also be helpful.
