Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback so far! You're welcome to add any more
information!
Barb,Nayanika,
I have no choice in the matter. Personally i would also go for something
else but CVS is all i'm offered due to budget contraints.
>From what i have turned with looking through the archives are:
- to diff the files, Word does a better job, since CVS does not.
- apparently when changes are committed once a day, the archive copy gets
bigger and slower as well. The only way i can make this a little easier is
to make docs smaller in size.So far i have been able to group docs
according to component/module.
I am one writer of two and we're handling completely different sets of
docs, so the problem of multiple writers committing different changes is
small..so anything that happens when i start with this, will be my fault!
;)
By Merging, i mean using Word to compare any diffs between the files.
What is the first thing that i should start with first? Besides grouping
topics into the appropriate module/component doc, according to what i have
read, only the necessary files (e.g .hh,.hpj,.rtf, and so forth) are kept
in the CVS. Images are kept in a separate folder on the network.
Am i starting in the right direction?
Thanks!
Cheryl
