I worked for Burroughs which is now Unisys, but I
never worked for Unisys. The people I worked for
aren't there anymore either. (It *was* more than 20
years ago, after all, and the building now houses
Sparkletts Water customer service dept, who I worked
for on contract somewhat later :) A company I worked
at 2 years ago was a dot.com that has closed up and
gone away.
Last year when several people ran pre-employment
background checks on me, I got a few phone calls from
the background checking service to clarify company
names, locations, and other circumstances. I gave them
everything they needed, sometimes even before they
asked for it, because I knew what they'd run into.
These things come up in the interview process, and in
the course of running a check. I don't see any reason
to include all that clutter in the resume.
