I wonder what you might have done with a similar document...
My user guide will contain half-titles to separate sections, but the chapter
numbers will not restart at "Chapter 1" in each section.
While that conforms with at least one technical book I've looked at and with
Fig. 1.9 in Chicago 14, I would value feedback about others' experiences and
decisions about this matter.
