A recent STC presentation I attended was about
localization. The presenter emphasized minimalism and
consistency as a key to reducing costs, and provided
practical examples.
This is one type of presentation that is applicable to
technical writers of any sort.
In general, I would welcome technical writing meetings
that were about documenting content for products other
than the ones I work with. I'd love to get a
presentation on how airplane engines are documented,
or on the documentation required to bring
pharmaceuticals to market.
