The idea is to generate good will and the feeling that the developer can contact with information any time. Sure the developer screwed up this review, but hopefully the next one will go better.
You may also want to add a note like "although your comments came to late to incorporate (all of them) into the latest document release, I will be sure to include them the next time the document is updated." Here you let the developer know that their comments are important to you even if they are hopelessly late.
