Subject:PDF text size/footer problem From:aklemmer -at- factset -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 13 Nov 2002 09:27:06 -0500
Hi,
Searched the archives with no luck, so I'm hoping someone out there will be
able to help....
I'm pdf'ing a Word 2000 document with a page number in the footer. Problem
is that when I print out the PDF, the footer is slightly higher up on the
page (and we're using pre-printed paper with a colored border, so it looks
really bad.) Strangely, the font in general across the entire document
looks _slightly_ smaller in the PDF printout than it does in the Word
printout (the font is plain old Arial, nothing fancy.) So I'm thinking
perhaps that Acrobat is compressing the font size slightly, therefore
making everything smaller?
To create the PDF from Word, I'm selecting File > Print, choosing the
"Acrobat Distiller" printer, and printing. I'm using Acrobat 5.
I've tried the following, without success:
======================================
* Going into the Acrobat Distiller printer settings dialog box and
de-selecting "Compress Text and Line Art" on the Compression tab. This does
not affect the "downsizing" of text that I can see.
* Making the bottom margin REALLY tiny in Word before PDF'ing (like 0.1 --
puts the footer all the way at the bottom of the page in word, but doesn't
affect the PDF output)
* Changing the "Default Page Size" in the Acrobat printer settings to 850
pts high
* Using Windows/Word XP
Any ideas? Please cc: me as I am on digest. Thanks in advance!
