At my last four gigs, I was allowed to telecommute when I wanted to...in
fact, now that I think of it, I've never been told that I wasn't allowed.
At some of them, the work routine was such that I thought I could be just as
effective at home some days as being in the office, so I did it 2-3 days a
week. At this current gig and some others, it is my decision that I need to
be in the office every day to produce my best work most efficiently.

Yeah, and in Baja Oklahoma (TX) they have no state income tax
(Which by the way means that they are subsidizing your federal
taxes due to deductible high state income tax in NY/NJ etc.)
I'm really surprised you guys can't do at least some telecommuting.
